My passion for travel, nature and photography got me to adopt this new lifestyle, which I am enjoying to the hilt. Living to do what I love doing – a free bird in true sense, many are envious of me for this, I can understand the reason. But I have worked and paid for this freedom, nothing comes free in this world.
Indian Army veteran (SS-38), August 1984 to Aug 1990. I bid the Indian army adieu to pursue my passions whole time, like a free bird. Now, I love to travel, photography, nature and outdoor life. MISSION: NATURE CONSERVATION through my photography.
I am proud to be an Indian Army veteran (SS-38), commissioned on the 25th of August 1984, into the Regiment o Artillery. In Aug 1990, I bid the Indian army adieu to pursue my passions whole time, like a free bird. Now, I love to travel, photograph my country, its cultural and natural heritage, and love the outdoor life the most.
I consider myself to be amongst those few extremely lucky ones, who got introduced to the wonders of nature while yet a toddler. My father used to take me out to the nearby jungle patch for morning walks everyday and I have kept in touch with nature to this day and it is now a passion with me. My love for outdoor life i.e. nature, photography and travel got me to join the Indian army, which took me to all corners of India and abroad. But my heart was to do it full time, so I bid the Indian army adieu to pursue my hobbies whole time. I have been associated with wildlife film projects including two for the National Geographic Society, USA. I could contribute to these films, as I have expertise in designing and fabrication of natural history sets for shooting wildlife films under controlled conditions. I also design cine support equipment and contraptions for wildlife filming.
Life is too short to do experiments for fooling around, but some love experimenting. I love challenges and experiments; otherwise life is stale and drab for me. But then I am very clear what I want in life, happiness, not by achieving big goals, but by doing what I love doing the most. My sole mission is `Nature Conservation Education’. I have envisioned my MISSION: NATURE CONSERVATION to be accomplished through my photography and tourism. To raise funds for all this, WILDHISS TOURS Pvt. Ltd. has been commissioned to organise special interest tours and photo safaris. I am one of the founders of this outfit.
Also, I founded ECOSENSE SOUVENIRS to raise funds for Snake Cell. The wildlife T-shirts of this brand are the best in the country. Ecosense is the pioneer of wildlife T-Shirts in India.
I love nature, snakes, photography and travelling in my own self-made motor-home named Kingcobra, to reach people to educate them about snakes and snakebite. My wife and me educate people about snakes and snakebite – a self-funded project The Snake Cell.
PUBLICATIONs: I have contributed as the main photographer for THE INDIAN ARMY – AN ILLUSTRATED OVERVIEW a coffee table book for the Indian Army, released by the Defense Minister of India, in September 2007. My photos have also been published in newspapers, magazines, textbooks, websites, and magazine covers, in Indian and overseas.
All my images are available at a cost.

Hi Capt. Sharma, luckily I ran into your blog and was very impressed with your photos and equally about the comments. A true trait of a photo journalist.
I run a blog for my course SS-28. I served five years in 19 Kumaon and moved to the US to pursue my love for photography. Never materialized though. Maybe someday …
Please do visit the blog and look around at my amateurish attempt on the blogosphere. It’s only a few days old. I would like to add a link of your blog onto our blog ss28.wordpress.com. Also if you could direct all the 28ers (as I call them) how to purchase your book. (is that your book in your hand?)
Geetinder Singh
Sir, sincere apologies, I had not seen your comment here. Please send me links to your Blog and I will display it on my Blogroll, this is the least I can do for another SS Offr.
I am very impressed with your photos and blog.
